WHAT TO EXPECT
On your first visit to the clinic you will be asked to complete a new patient intake form.
During your consultation we will discuss your current health history and other pertinent information that may be related to your presenting complaint.
After this consultation you will undergo a chiropractic examination that includes neurological, orthopaedic and postural evaluation. This can be done wearing preferably loose clothing - your modesty is considered at all times. If it were decided that further investigation is required such as x-rays or blood tests this would be acquired by referral back to your GP (with your consent) or by utilising private services depending on your individual situation.
Findings from your examination will be discussed with you and your options for chiropractic care will be recommended and explained.
I practice a form of Chiropractic called SOT which includes precise adjustment without excessive force. A full explanation of treatment will be given before commencement and there are no obligations to continue.
An example
During the examination I use a series of tests (indicators) to identify what your presenting complaint is and then recheck these indicators after the adjustment procedure to gain immediate feedback from your body’s response to treatment and monitor the success of the adjustment. Prior to correcting the pelvis for example, some soft tissue work is done to balance and relax any muscle and/or fascial distortion or compensating patterns. Then whilst lying on a bench two blocks are placed under your pelvis. Your body weight on the blocks along with your breathing helps to realign the sacroiliac joints and allows for normal movement of the CSF. Allowing your body to initiate healing.
This is an effective and low-force way to adjust the body, which is why it is suitable for all ages from birth to old age.
